Our welded steel plate dumbbells have been popular for a number of years. Of late we have had customers interested in building their own dumbbells / dumbbell sets.
Given some knowledge and access to suitable workshop facilities this can be achieved with a good cost saving over buying built up dumbbells. Another advantage of the steel plate dumbbells is the opportunity to rework them should they become damaged. The steel plate dumbbells may be repainted, re welded and even straightened should they be severely abused. If need be the handles and collars may also be replaced.

Below we have listed various items/components that you may require to build the classic style welded steel plate dumbbells. It is important to decide on the dumbbell sizes and styles you require prior to ordering. Of course we are always available to give advice and guidance on the selection and build of your Dumbbells. We have also added a dumbbell assembly video to aid you in the process.

All plates set are made up volumetrically so weights can vary. We suggest you weigh each DB prior to assembly to achieve the level of accuracy you require. Given the available plate sizes typically DB can be made to +/- 0.5Kg, to achieve greater accuracy we can to make up smaller increment discs if requested. Using the Kits listed below Dumbbells between 2.5 and 100Kg can be made up and larger again using alternative special product, (Recently we made a pair of 130Kg specialist DB using these items and a few special purpose additions).

By changing construction technique you can change from fixed to rotating heads.  This is achieved through technical construction variation.
